We are featuring a very special guest blogger today, MKS’s President, Victoria Ferro. Victoria provides some great insight on her hometown of Chicago for anyone who will be attending ASIS this year.
We are very excited to be making our return this year to the ASIS International trade show. This year’s event will be hosted in Chicago, which just happens to be my hometown!
Chicago is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with so many things to see, experience and eat while you are attending ASIS in a few weeks.
Some foodie experiences not to miss:
You can’t go to Chicago without trying a Chicago style hot dog or Italian Bee. Two of the best places downtown that I recommend are Portillos or Al’s Beef.
Chicago Style Pizza – This is probably the most famous food dish that Chicago is known for. My favorite spot for Chicago style pizza is Lou Malnatis –BEST deep dish pizza inthe city! They also have a delicious crispy thin crust if deep dish is not your thing.
For your Italian food fix, head over to Rosebud on Rush. Their baked clams are to die for as well as their homemade pasta . They also have the best Chicken Parmigianino in town along with great steaks and fish specials as well.
The Signature Room Lounge on the 95th floor of the John Hancock is a great spot to have a nightcap or dessert and watch the city lights glimmer in the night sky.
Some Must See Sites-
If you have the time, I highly recommend a double decker bus tour to really get an overview of the Loop and Gold Coast sights. I would also recommend an Architecture Tour of the city from the River. Chicago is home to some of the most dramatic and breath taking architecture in the world.
Navy Pier Ferris Wheel or Lake Michigan Boat Tour- Chicago has a beautiful sky line and it is even more beautiful at night from the Ferris Wheel or from Lake Michigan on board one the many boat tours.
Willis Tower – The quintessential tourist attraction in Chicago, the Willis Tower used to be the tallest building in the world. While we no longer hold the title, the city view from the Willis Tower Sky Deckis a very cool experience. he
I hope that this provides you with a few options to experience while you are in town for the show. Chicago is truly a great place and I’m proud to call it my hometown!
Be sure to stop by MKS's booth (#3942) for a personalized demo of our Central Station and/or Accounting/Servicesoftware. Each demo comes with a complimentary Chicago travel tip!
See you at ASIS Chicago next week!
